Festival Fun
THE GENESEE VALLEY HUNT RACES
October 14, 10 AM - 4 PM
Race Grounds, Geneseo 
 
Horses, hounds and hoopla! A family-friendly day of horse races, dog events, pony rides, horse-drawn hay rides and live music!
There are lots of horse races from ponies to steeplechases (with prize money) and stick horse races for kids. Other features include an Agri-Discovery Center, a Tailgate Picnic competition, unique shopping boutiques, New York Food and Wine Farmers Market and more.

FALL FLING & CIDER RELEASE PARTY

OSB Ciderworks
 
Come celebrate fall with OSB! Corning artist Elijiah Smith will be setting up a glass pumpkin
patch for everyone to enjoy & pick out the perfect pumpkin, Kelly's Farm Market & Bakery will be serving up & selling freshly pressed mouthwatering sweet cider for people of all ages, Duke's Donuts will be frying and selling on site, and there will be living music from 1 PM - 4 PM. OSB's fall ciders are all hitting the taps at once including a new flavor!

New Business Spotlight 



A LITTLE OFF THE TOP HAIR SHOP   
A Little Off The Top Hair Shop is a walk in hair cut shop for men or women.  Located in the tiny space (smallest Main Street storefront in the county!!) that was formerly B & D Art & Framing, the shop has been totally remodeled using recycled materials such as barn wood and old palettes . It looks much larger than it did when it was the frame shop and has a wonderful rustic look.  
 
Tuesdays are reserved for those who prefer making appointments, but otherwise, you can just walk in and take your chances. Owner/operator Randilyn Stewart is planning a grand opening for October 28th. On that day only she is offering $10 haircuts!

Fright Village consists of three scary attractions: Phryte Manor, Phryte Doll Company and Sunnydale Hospital. Hosted by the Vintage Drive-In Theater, Fright Village is guaranteed to be one of the areas best haunted attractions.

COMMUNITY VISION MEETINGS

The Downtown Partnership of Livingston County is conducting a market analysis study with
the goal of creating a Downtown Business Development Strategy to recruit new businesses that will compliment existing businesses and buildings in Livingston County's downtowns.
Community meetings are geared towards specific regions of the County. You need only attend ONE meeting, preferably the meeting with a focus on your community, however you are welcome to attend any date/time that works with your schedule.
This is a free event, but please RSVP.

READING BETWEEN THE WINES
October 15, 2 PM - 5 PM
Deer Run Winery
 
Sponsored by the Literacy Volunteers of Livingston County, this special event, includes a panel of three authors discussing their books and careers and wine tasting and food pairings. Books will be available for sale and to sign. Donations are $25 per ticket, Tickets will be mailed. There is a limit of 50 reservations. Donations will help hundreds of County residents improve their reading and writing skills.

RAMON ROCHA 5K RUN/WALK

St. Mary's Church, Geneseo

The Ramon Rocha 5K Run/Walk is a fun road race for all ages and experience levels in the historic Village of Geneseo, NY. The race is named in memory of Arc Board of Directors member Dr. Ramon Rocha. The Race features Long-sleeve t-shirts for the first 300 people to register, food and beverages, medals for fastest runners by age group, Halloween costume contest and more!

GENESEE VALLEY GREENWAY HIKE # 7 
October 14, 10 AM - 12 PM
Cuylerville - Leicester

Hike #7 Cuylerville to Piffard. Easy, Flat trail with a mixed surface (3.5 miles). The guide will provide history of the Town of Leicester and also point out historic canal and railroad features, including  and interesting natural features along the way.

In an effort to raise awareness, Avon Rotary will hold a 'Walk For Polio" around the Village of Avon. Donations will be accepted for the Rotary Foundation PolioPlus Fund which in turn is matched 2:1 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

AMY'S WALK

The Chances and Changes annual charity 5K walk in memory of Amy Sayle, a local victim who lost her life to domestic violence in 2006. Happening rain or shine! You can register online, or the day of the walk. Brochures with registration and info can be requested by calling 585-658-3940. Registration fee is $10. There will be prizes, basket raffles, and more!

Please join the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation family in support of those affected by Alzheimer's Disease. The walk starts through the Murray Hill Campus and Al Lorenz Park. Registration is at 4:30 PM and the walk starts promptly at 5 PM. Proceeds will be divided equally between the CNR's Memory Lane Neighborhood and the Alzheimer's Association.
